Change at the GDT board of management
Thomas Block, who was a member of the GDT board of management for five years as a treasurer, has resigned from his office for professional reasons. His responsibilities will now be fulfilled by Eberhard Giese, who has been a member of the board for several years. He was accepted as treasurer last weekend at the general meeting of members of the Society of German Nature Photographers (GDT). Sebastian Sczepanski from Berlin has been newly elected as a member of the board. The GDT would like to thank Thomas Block for his commitment over the years and wish Sebastian Sczepanski a good start for his work with the board.
Sebastian Sczepanski, born in 1981 and raised in the middle of the industrial Ruhr area, has been enthusiastic about nature in landscapes shaped by human beings from an early age. Already as a young boy he engaged in the work of NABU (Nature and Biodiversity Conservation Union), where, at the age of eleven, he first came across wildlife photography. After finishing his professional training as a photographer he has moved to Berlin. He is a full member of GDT since 2009.

New exhibition management for Europe
In addition to TOURMALIN, who cover the German-speaking areas, we now also work with the Spanish company CRESCENT for our Europe-wide exhibition management commencing in 2012. The presentation of the EWPY 2011 in Spain forms the prelude to this cooperation. The local organizers will have the choice of presenting the exhibition in either classic mounts or so -called duratrans light boxes. So far exhibitions have been arranged in San Sebastian, La Coruna, Oviedo and Vitoria with more venues to follow. There are also plans to expand to other European countries such as France and Italy. The exhibition will be accompanied by a hardback catalogue in the corresponding local language.
The Society of German Nature Photographers (GDT) hands over donations from CANON poster campaign at the GDT International Nature Photography Festival to the Committee Against Bird Slaughter
The Committee Against Bird Slaughter is a non-profit organisation for nature conservation accredited by the Federal Ministry for the Environment and in this role is involved in law-making procedures on a national level. The committee's major commitment is against illegal hunting and bird-catching in Europe as well as their campaign against international wild bird trade. In their work the organisation focuses on Italy, Malta, Cypress, France and Germany - countries along the birds' habitual migration routes.
The organisation is entirely run on donations. We are therefore very pleased to be able to support the immensely important work of the "Committee Against Bird Slaughter" with this donation.
